Wow! We are at the end of the year, but we were learning and practicing as much as possible. This is what we’ve been doing:
➢ Colouring the G and F clef
➢ Listening and reading the story of the nutcracker and mole music
➢ The meaning of an orchestra and what does a conductor do
➢ Listening games with rhythmic instruments
➢ Practicing the recorder and tone bar
➢ Listening the nutcracker suite op 71, Tchaikovsky

• Steady Beat vs Non Steady beat
• Hand signs (do, re, mi, fa, so, la, ti)
• Pitch (high, low)

Hello!
October has been a month of practice of :

• Music Notation (Music staff, G clef, do re mi fa sol la ti do, quarter notes and half notes)
• Pitch (high, low)

I recommend you to assist with your children at Studio Bell Museum!
Your children can learn about the development of the instruments, there is the oldest piano and first
microphone from Canada. There’s a piano player that makes a sample of the organs at 2pm.
Also there’s a section of the museum where you can play the instruments and have a joyful afternoon.

Hello Everyone!
I hope you had a great summer. I am very excited to be your child’s music teacher at Montessori Children’s house Academy. I am from Mexico and I am a singer/songwriter/guitar player and piano player. Moreover, writing songs, and perform in festivals or venues are my passions. I can affirm that music is my life’s style and I really could not imagine a life without teaching music or performing.
There are many benefits of studying music:
• It stimulates our brain and improves our well-being and cognitive development.
• Music provides to our body the tranquility that will allow us to face any obstacle. Moreover, it reinforces our memory, concentration and helps to solve math problems.
• The child’s body expression is more stimulated.
• By introducing auditory discrimination enriches the language and vocabulary.
• Music stimulates the right side of our brain that improves our creativity.
• Rhythm contributes the coordination, equilibrium, muscle development and stimulate the senses.
• Establishing routines in music provides the bases for a future discipline.

Music Lab for Kids: making a theme song
Friday September 13 at 6pm Chinook Centre
Create a theme song for your favourite show, book or game using Garage Band on iPad. We’ll cover rhythm basics, and kids will get hands-on experimenting with Smart Drums, adding pre-recorded loops and remixing their theme sing. Bring your iPad or we’ll provide one. Recommended for ages 6-12.
